Belfast

Travel with us to the 1960s in Belfast and brace yourself for a fantastically encouraging ride. Belfast is a British coming-of-age film that comes straight from director Branagh’s own experience. A nine-year-old boy must plot his path to adulthood in a world that has been suddenly turned upside down. His stable and loving community and everything he thought he understood about life is forever changed, but joy, laughter and music are not taken away from him.

The film was praised by critics for Branagh’s direction and screenplay, cinematography and the performances of the cast, and grossed more than $48 million worldwide.

Belfast received seven nominations at the 94th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and won for Best Original Screenplay. It was named one of the best films of 2021 by the National Board of Review, and received seven nominations at the 79th Golden Globe Awards, including Best Picture – Drama, and won the award for Best Screenplay.
